LRRCT, Inc. is an all-volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue and re-homing of Labrador Retrievers in the CT, MA, RI, and NYC area. Please be aware that there are MANY lab rescues operating in this geography, some with names very similar to ours. When looking to rescue a lab, whether from us or another rescue, please make sure you are working with a reputable group. Some things to look for in a rescue:

they have a strict spay/neuter policy for all their animals, including puppies. Followup and no transfer of ownership until spay/neuter requirement met on puppies. Adoption fee includes the cost of spay/neuter. Shelter or rescue's responsibility not new owner.

all dogs are current on all immunizations, including recent bloodwork for heartworm and Lyme prior to adoption

they fully disclose any known history - medical, behavioral, prior ownership, etc.

they require a home visit and adopter can meet their lab before placement, especially if there are small children or other dogs in the home

they agree to take the lab back if the placement is not working out
